THE WORLDS LEADING TRAVEL AND DINING DESTINATION

In what is now its 16th consecutive year at the prized World Travel Awards, The Saxon Hotel, Villas and Spa accepted industry honours as the World’s Leading Boutique Hotel during a gala ceremony in the Maldives for the World Travel Awards 2016.  Shambala Private Game Reserve, which was officially included as part of the Saxons all-inclusive urban, bush offering in 2015 also picked up honours as the World’s Leading Private Game Reserve

In addition to the two coveted awards (voted for by travel and tourism professionals), tribute was paid to the Saxons latest fine dining offering, Luke Dale Roberts X Saxon, as the World’s Leading Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant

Luke Dale-Roberts is a name synonymous with the finest, most creative and innovative food.  After a highly successful pop up earlier in 2016 Managing Director George Cohen thought it fitting to incorporate Africa’s Best Chef (Dale-Roberts) as a permanent fixture at the World’s Leading Boutique Hotel.  This marked the launch of an electrifying gourmet collaboration between Dale-Roberts and the Saxons Head Chef Candice Philip.

2016 saw the Saxon, with the inclusion of Shambala, embark on creating a sequence of experiences; centred around cuisine and wellbeing, designed to leave guests enriched.  These developments have included the launch of the new fine dining restaurant at the boutique hotel as well as an incredible newly rebuilt spa and wellness centre.

Managing Director George Cohen, who has seen the hotel mature and has been at the helm developing it into an industry leader, credits the Saxons continued success to its core philosophy.  “The Saxon serves as a home away from home for many of our esteemed guests.  Guests and industry professionals alike continue to honour the Saxon for one simple fact; each guest is treated with the individual attention they require without the compromise of quality or service.  Our offering is tailor-made, responding to individual requests and not mass demand.  Not an easy task for a 53-suite hotel which also relies on the patronage of day guests utilizing amenities such as restaurant and spa.  From addressing guests as members of an extended family without being over familiar to saving a limited select vintage for an avid wine connoisseur whose next visit isn’t secured, those are just some of the things which contribute to the Saxons repute.  This philosophy and attitude is emphasized right at the beginning of every employee’s introduction to the hotel and the common thread within our business.  It’s really just about good old-fashioned hospitality.”
