In what was seen as an unprecedented victory, The Saxon Hotel, Villas and Spa excelled at Wednesday evening’s Chaine De Rotisseurs regional Young Chefs as well as the Young Sommeliers competitions, earning the top spots in the two divisions of these events that celebrate excellence in food and beverage by young professionals.
Talented young chefs Vusumuzi Ndlovu, Gareth Morrison and Kirsten Howell took home the first, second and third places in the Jeunes Chef Rotisseurs respectively, while Stefan Kobald, Brett Naicker and Neo Khosa snapped up first, second and third place in the Sommeliers segment.
Judges for the regional Jeunes Chef Rotisseurs event included a range of professional chefs as well as food - related tasting judges. “I am extremely proud of my dynamic team,” said Managing Director George Cohen. “The Saxon has unparalleled commitment, not only to our staff and their specialist training, but also to our valued guests as we continually strive to offer a memorable experience. Executive chef David Higgs, whose creativity and vision have driven the hotel to new culinary heights in the past two years, was overjoyed at the accolade, adding, “The Saxon is passionate about the quality of our food and beverage offering and we continually evolve our menus, restaurants and wine lists to en sure we remain a market leader in the hospitality industry. I believe strongly in mentorship and our young team has such a passion or what they do. Their hard work and dedication has now paid off and I’m extremely proud of them all.”
