The Saxon Spa, having launched in November 2016, is a 700sqm, two-floor oasis of wellness, taking guests on a holistic journey incorporating sound, touch and sight, blending modern understanding with ancient techniques to balance energies and restore wellbeing.
The space incorporates a total of eleven treatment rooms; including an all-glass couple’s treatment room, manicure and pedicure areas, hair spa, sleep zone, spa dining area, organic juice bar, steam room, heated hydro pool, wet treatment zone, hammam centre, heated outdoor plunge pool, sauna and an outdoor treatment zone.
Designed by internationally-acclaimed interior designer, Stephen Falcke, The Saxon Spa has been created as a sanctuary of the senses with dark wood, copper, linen and water featuring throughout. Central to The Saxon Spa journey is the healing properties of Himalayan salt, incorporated into the design as well as therapies. Each treatment room is ionised by a locally handcrafted Himalayan salt and recycled glass chandelier created by a local conservation project based in Alexandra. As well as making a striking centrepiece, the chandeliers actively purifies the air, stimulate circulation and increase energy levels. The sauna also has three walls constructed entirely from the precious mineral.
The upper level features a spacious pedicure area with treatments from the highly acclaimed Margaret Dabbs as well as a tranquil sleep zone, stocked with relaxing teas and nourishing snacks; a hair spa offering cocooning treatments including a caviar hair mask as well as a dining area serving dishes with ingredients sourced from the Saxons organic vegetable garden.
The lower level is themed around hydro-based therapies, comprising a wet treatment zone where the invigorating Rasul treatment will take place; a floatation pod; unisex steam room; Himalayan salt sauna; heated outdoor plunge pool and relaxing day bed area; heated hydro pool; cold plunge pool for Kneipp therapy and hammam centre. There is also a juice bar serving refreshing fresh juices and smoothies.
At the Saxon Spa, couples can indulge in some down time in the tranquil glass-enclosed double treatment room, set within The Saxon’s lush gardens, offering a choice of indulgent experiences à deux including options to enjoy treatments under the stars.
